Digital nomad visa

We haven't found a digital nomad visa for Canada. Ask Advisor about other ways to stay longer.

What we couldn't confirm

  • No digital nomad / remote-worker visa exists. IRCC operational guidance 'Temporary residents: Digital nomads' (modified 2026-05-26, source s9) says digital nomads need only visitor status to work remotely from Canada for a foreign employer or for clients exclusively outside Canada, may stay up to 6 months at a time, and must apply for a visitor record to stay longer. They must show income earned entirely outside Canada, sufficient funds, and intent to leave. Working for a Canadian employer requires a work permit. No income threshold is published.
  • Days are given as 180 to represent the official '6 months' default; the actual period is 6 calendar months from entry or the date the officer sets.
  • IRPR text was 'current to 2026-10-19, last amended 2026-07-15'; a later amendment could not be ruled out.
  • The IRCC 'Entry requirements by country' page could not be fetched; visa-exemption status was taken from the regulations (s3, s4) instead.
  • Visitor record fee (CAN$100) is from the IRCC fee list (s7); the extend-stay page (s8) did not display the fee when fetched.
