Digital nomad visa

We haven't found a digital nomad visa for Germany. Ask Advisor about other ways to stay longer.

What we couldn't confirm

  • ETIAS start date is unconfirmed: official pages still say 'last quarter of 2026', but a 19 Oct 2026 news report (non-official) says the EU removed that target in July 2026 and has announced no date. Re-check before publishing.
  • The official EU Annex II visa-exempt list (Reg. 2018/1806) could not be fetched. CA/GB/AU visa-exempt status is backed by general official statements about visa-exempt nationals, not by a named listing.
  • No official source was fetched on short-stay extensions. 'extendable: no' reflects the general Schengen rule; national force-majeure or bilateral-agreement exceptions are not covered.
  • Germany: official German sources (make-it-in-germany.com, auswaertiges-amt.de, germany.info) could not be fetched in this session, so nomadVisa is null WITHOUT official confirmation. Germany is generally understood to have no dedicated digital-nomad visa (remote/self-employed people typically use the freelance/self-employment residence permit under s.21 AufenthG), but this is unverified. Treat as low confidence and re-check.
