Digital nomad visa
We haven't found a digital nomad visa for Netherlands. Ask Advisor about other ways to stay longer.
What we couldn't confirm
- ETIAS: official sources (Dutch government page; Swiss SEM FAQ) say ETIAS is not yet in operation and no action is needed; some official pages (EEAS, Belgian embassies, last updated 2025) still say 'last quarter of 2026'. Press reports (non-official) say launch has slipped to 2027; no official new date found.
- No digital nomad or remote-worker visa: IND's list of work residence permits contains none (high confidence).
- Commonly used alternative: IND 'Residence permit self-employed person' (max 2 years, renewable; points test by RVO; income at least EUR 1,766.77 gross profit/month incl. holiday allowance, valid 1 Jul to 31 Dec 2026). US and Japanese nationals can use the Dutch-American / Dutch-Japanese Friendship Treaty route (DAFT/DJFT), with a minimum investment of EUR 4,500 for most business forms and no points test. Sources: nl3, nl4, nl5 (official). Dutch-American Friendship Treaty income figure not stated by IND.
- Bilateral extra-90-day arrangements for US/CA/AU nationals in the Netherlands are from a non-official source only (low confidence).
